FAQ

Q: OK, so what's with the name mywifepaintsbattleships?
A: I dreamed I created a website for my painting service called mywifepaintsbattleships.com.  At the time, I didn't really have a name for it.  When I woke up, I thought, "Why not?"  My husband passes out all the business cards, so it makes more sense if you heard about it from him.

Q: How do I get you to paint my miniatures?
A: Send an e-mail to mywifepaintsbattleships@gmail.com, or use the contact form on the site.

Q: Do you paint things other than battleships?
A: I paint pretty much anything.  I decided to focus on naval miniatures because I did some research and found there weren't many painting services that advertised painting them.  If you want a quote for something other than naval miniatures, just e-mail me.

Q: Where are you located?
A: In the United States, in Illinois.  If you want to send me miniatures, e-mail me for my address.

Q: What's the procedure if I want you to paint something for me?
A: You e-mail me with information about what you want painted.  Then I provide you with a quote.  For naval miniatures, this will be based on the pricing posted on the site.  For other items, based on what we discuss over e-mail.  You send the stuff.  I paint it.  You can see updated status on the order status page as things progress.  When the miniatures are all done, I will post pictures in the gallery.  Once we're both satisfied with the transaction, I ask you to pay based on the quote.  Once I receive payment, I send the painted miniatures back to you.

Q: How long does it take to get my miniatures painted?
A: It depends.  I try to turn around most orders in 4-6 weeks.  If you (or someone in front of you in line) sent me a huge amount of stuff, it may take longer.  I also have a "real job" so I can only paint at nights and on weekends.

Q: What's the order status page, and when will I show up on there?
A: Once you tell me you're shipping me miniatures, I put you "in line" so to speak, and add you to the status page.  As I finish the orders ahead of you, you will see their status change, and yours.

Q: Can I order miniatures online and have them shipped directly to you?
A: Yes, but if you don't e-mail me first to tell me they're coming, I'm likely to think they're a gift.  =)

Q: Do you take PayPal?
A: Yes, for a fee of 4% of the total order.  That's what they charge me.

Q: You charge exact shipping?  Really?
A: Yep.  I'm in the painting business - I don't try to make money off the shipping.

Q: Do you ship overseas?
A: Sure.  I charge exact shipping for that as well.

Q: What painting reference books do you have, in case I want to list a page # for you as an example?
A: Currently, I have The Painter's Guide To WW2 Naval Camouflage by Patrick Hreachmack published by Clash of Arms and Regia Marina: Italian Battleships of World War Two by Erminio Bagnasco and Mark Grossman.  And, of course, the INTERNET!
